Lovely showroom in Uphall and plenty of product on display. Ended up getting bifolding doors last year so my review is long overdue. Recently had a remedial issue and the customer care I received was great. I must thank Callum for arranging for replacement parts and for a fitter to attend. Thank you ekco.

Had a great experience with ekco from start to finish. The staff were very helpful and communicated well throughout our project. The tradesmen were efficient and showed up on time. I was very impressed by their standard of workmanship and how they would tidy up after themselves. Everything was completed in a timely manner and I’m delighted with my new bathroom.

      MR & MRS RITCHIE

      THE KBSA DESIGNER AWARDS 2019

Entry: Bathroom Designer of the Year
      Client: Mr & Mrs Ritchie
      Designer: Hollie Kerr
      Company: EKCO

      Client Brief

Mrs Ritchie came into the showroom looking to have her Bathroom in her detached cottage re- designed and modernised although still bearing in mind the theme of the rest of the property. The current bathroom had traditional wall panelling with brass fittings and a slipper bath which were all to removed and space given a clean sleek look. The bath currently sat on a raised stepped area which was to be removed if possible. The main items of the brief were for a large bath with lay down space around or near it, plenty of storage space, grey tones whilst still retaining a light and bright feel with a touch of glitz and glamour.

      Meeting the Criteria

Following a site survey to get a feel for the property and Mrs Ritchie’s style I put together a new layout and design. I removed the raised area under the current bath and opted for an inset bath option instead which would hide the various pipework the step was concealing. By pulling the back wall of the bathroom forward by 100mm I was able to create a feature bath height alcove to add some detailing to back wall and give Mrs Ritchie the requested lay down space whilst in the bath. Mosaics were used in the alcoves and the front of the bath to highlight the sweeping curve. The bath area and alcoves were finished off beautifully with a dark grey Corian giving a flawless finish and continuity to the bathroom. Utopia painted wood vanity units were added to complement the curves of the bath and add a touch of sparkle with the glass knob handles and Crosswater’s Glitter tap. A matching mirror and feature lighting panels from Utopia were also added to pull the look together. As this was an older property the waste pipe could not be moved, and a low-level
bulkhead was created in order to conceal this whilst also allowing a frame for a wall hung wc and feature recessed shelving. The room was kept light and bright by only tiling half way up in a light grey tile and adding white painted shutters to the windows. The dark Grey mosaic tiles were added to reflected the light giving the room a delicate glam feel. Wood effect tiles were used on the floor softening the look with some texture. Lighting detail was added to the front of the curved bath panel and in all the alcoves to accentuate the detail in the glass mosaics.

      Result

Mr & Mrs Ritchie both love their new bathroom, particularly the colours and textures which complement each other, and the small touches of sparkle reflect Mr Ritchie’s style and personality. Having the waste pipe cleverly concealed made a huge difference to the look for the room and adjusting the positions of the wc and basin unit has changed the flow of the room for the better. Mrs Ritchie is also delighted with how comfortable and stylish the new bath is in comparison to the one they had before. Their project came in under Budget at 18332.00 inc vat.
